Welcome to Equine Genetics where for the next 6 weeks, we are diving deep into equine color, both genotype and phenotype. Students will be introduced to real-life animal science genetics problems that researchers, veterinarians, or breeders might experience in their day-to-day lives. If you are interested in equine science or a genetics module for your academic career, this is the place for you. Each week, per the syllabus, we will learn new genetic science terminology and colors while reviewing the previous week's material. Lots of examples will provide the opportunity for practice. Without repetition, one will not learn and retain this material. Therefore, it is also expected students will complete weekly homework. In addition to live class meetings, students will be presented with homework booklets weekly. These printable PDF files may be brought to class with a student every week to help with note-taking. Please do not work ahead in the booklets prior to class. If a student needs additional help with a lesson of homework, please reach out to the teacher for additional explanation (via asynchronous video support or written chat).
Metas de aprendizaje

Students will know and understand genetics terminology used in the animal science, veterinary science, and breeding (horse) communities.
