Dominio épico: un retrato de tu carácter (autoconocimiento)

Niños de 7 a 12 años Este programa está diseñado para enseñar a los estudiantes a apreciar la singularidad de sus personalidades y carácter individuales. ¿Cómo te ves a ti mismo? ¿Cómo te ven los demás? ¿Qué es lo que más importa?

My assessments will be informal. I will monitor their ability to focus and pay attention in class, offer constructive critiques to peers and following my instructions. I want to help them to find their confidence and take pride in what the create in my class. Art expression allows us to create what's pleasing to ourselves. How they see themselves internally will always be reflective on the outside and that's what makes self worth so important.

Experiencia de clase

One-time class.

In this self-awareness activity, students will create a personal “character portrait” that highlights their unique qualities. Guided by a supportive discussion and YouTube video, they will be given a list of character traits. Students are to choose which of those traits best describe who they are and what they value about themselves.

Using these traits, students will draw a silhouette of themselves, filling it with words that capture their strengths and positive qualities. By decorating their silhouettes with colors and designs, they’ll create a lasting reminder of their individuality and self-worth.

This activity aligns with CASEL’s self-awareness competency, helping students recognize and appreciate their inner qualities in a creative, affirming way.

Perfil
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
As an Enrichment Program Director and SEL Art Instructor, I bring over 30 years of experience working with youth in after-school and summer programs. Through my 501(c)(3) nonprofit and LLC, I partner with local agencies to introduce children to various art mediums, using creative expression to teach Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and essential life skills.

My approach combines art and SEL to offer therapeutic, engaging experiences that help children process emotions and gain confidence. Holding a bachelor’s in Organizational Leadership, a bachelor’s level background in Interior Design and Art Theory/History, and a master’s in Social-Emotional Learning, I am passionate about guiding young people through self-discovery and resilience-building. There’s nothing quite like seeing a child realize they can do something they once thought impossible, transforming "I can't" into "I did!"
