¡Música elemental en casa! Clase de música general para niños de jardín de infantes y primer grado

1 hora por semana. From time to time, we may ask adults to print off worksheets or other printables for the learner to work on either in class or between classes. We will provide these worksheets and let you know ahead of time so worksheets can be ready for class!

We're bringing music classes into your home for your kids! These general music classes are designed for your kiddos ages 5-7 (equivalent to Kindergarten and Grade 1). Students in our classes get to explore the fun of music through singing, dancing, and playing! 

WHAT HAPPENS IN OUR MUSIC CLASSES? 
👉 Opening and Closing each class with a fun song to get our voices singing!

👉 Singing new songs - we learn at least one new song per class including tunes kids are familiar with. 

👉 Learning dances and groove along to some of the songs we sing. 

👉 Reading and learning rhythms and note values like Quarter Notes, Quarter Rests, and 8th notes.

👉Playing with home-made instruments, and finding objects to use as instruments! 

👉 Learning to read letters, identify colors and shapes, and more. 


MUSIC CONCEPTS EXPLORED IN K-1 MUSIC:
🎼 Sound Exploration through singing and mimicking sounds around us

🎼 Movement Exploration using our bodies 

🎼 Developing Listening Skills to identify patterns of sound

🎼 Recognition of note and rest values

🎼 Identification of instruments 


UPCOMING CLASSES:
(please note, this schedule is subject to change depending on teacher schedules and availabilities)  

🗓August 5-9: We will use our voices to learn and sing silly songs, and familiar songs including the Alphabet song and Twinkle Little Star. We will also learn rhythms using vegetables, learn a dance from one of the songs we sing as well. 

🗓August 12-16: We will review some of our songs we sang from the previous week such as Twinkle Little Star and the Alphabet Song, use our voices to learn new songs to sing, learn new rhythms with fruits, and learn about Body Percussion. 

🗓August 19-23: We continue reviewing songs to sing and dance to from the previous weeks as well as our vegetable and fruit rhythms as well as creating movements to a drumbeat. We also continue working on our singing voice with singing stories and exercises. 

🗓August 26-30: We’ll learn a new song and dance called JUMP!, listen to a book called the Listening Walk, work on our singing voices with another story, review rhythms using instruments and fruits, and review some of our favorite songs from the previous weeks. 

🗓September 2-6: This week we do quite a bit of moving a grooving with some new songs and songs from previous weeks! We will also continue to work on our voices and play a fun new game with beats and rhythms! 

🗓September 9-13/16-20: We will explore our voices even more with animal sounds and learn about the letter A with our song the Alligator Alarm, and learn about other animals with fun and silly songs and dances. We will also learn a new train song, meet composer Handel, play a listening game, and review some of our silly songs and dances from the previous weeks. (No Classes held from Thursday September 12 to Tuesday September 17). 

🗓September 23-27: This week, we move to learn the letter M, play another listening game together, and continue to work on our singing voices! We’ll learn new songs such as The Counting Song, Farmer Brown, One Potato, Andy Pandy, and a Smile Goes a Long Way. 

🗓September 30 - October 4: We will work on our singing voices, get moving with body percussion, meet composer Mozart, and sing and dance to new songs such as Jack and Jill, Apples and Bananas, rock around the Alphabet, and play listening games!

From time to time we may have a lesson that includes a worksheet with color, or even cutting with scissors. We will let you know when those lessons are coming up so you can prepare these items for your learners.

We rely on the MusicPlayOnline curriculum for this class which provides students to access materials we use at home as well! We will provide a link for you to access these materials should students wish to use the materials at home between classes.

Zach Seckman
Zach Seckman, owner and lead instructor of Seckman Music School, is the teacher for the class. He wrote the book we use for the class, and 11 other books like it that covers all 12 months of the year with fun songs, games and activities for the beginning piano students. 

Seckman has over 10 years teaching experience in both public and private settings, and is an accomplished, self-published author having more than 30 books published in Piano, Composing, and Drum Set Percussion.
