Each week we will begin to write a short creative story by using tips and strategies to develop a plot. Students will be taught how to use answers to ‘Wh’ questions as a way to remove a writer’s block and get started with their creative writing. Each weekly class will follow the same pattern. (a) Students will be presented with a topic idea/visual prompt to generate ideas for discussion (b) Students will write one word or a brief phrase to the question words: who, when, where, why, what (c) Students will share aloud their answers and any story idea as oral practice (d) Teacher will record student response and story idea to help with story structure (e) Students will refer to the chat box to write their story on paper, apply correct spelling, sentence structure and punctuation. Learn how to create a story plot centered on a specific topic Learn to apply a strategy by answering 'Wh' question words Learn to use transition words to discuss the setting Learn to use conjunctions to explain reasons Learn how to apply the correct verb tense to discuss character action Learn to choose the best word choice to describe character actions and motivations Learn the definition of a proper noun and make sure to capitalize all of the time Learn the different ways adverbs can be used to describe verbs and adjectives

I grew up and went to school in the New York City area but now live in a small farming community in rural Midwest, USA. I enjoy working with and meeting people from both urban and rural settings and readily adjust to meet their learning needs in a culturally responsive way. I also volunteer at a prison and remain adaptable to ensure a supportive and safe learning environment.
I have degrees in the area of Corporate Communication, Education, and Second Language Acquisition. My teaching background is varied as a former 3rd Grade Classroom Teacher at a French immersion school, Orton-Gillingham trained structured reading teacher and as an Adjunct College Instructor.
I believe instructional data is crucial to improve learning outcomes. I constantly assess student comprehension during sessions in a relaxed and encouraging learning environment.
I love traveling and learning more about different cultures. This helps me to support all learners in my classroom. So far, I have visited Estonia, Russia, Kinshasa (Congo), London, Togo, South Korea, Latvia and a few other places. I also studied abroad in France. With each travel experience my respect for people and their culture simply deepens. I look forward to meeting you too!
