In this class we will explore how to take effective notes on reading assignments, as well as how to use notes to study better and learn more deeply.

We will cover:
--How taking notes can help us learn
--Priming the brain: what to do before a reading assignment
--The Power of Summarizing: putting ideas into your own words
--Review and Recall: revisiting your notes to improve your learning

Class will begin with a short icebreaker. I will then introduce each concept, followed by a chance for students to practice their note taking strategies on a short reading assignment. We will wrap up by discussing how students can use these strategies in their own reading assignments.

My class will be conversational, upbeat, and as hands on as possible. Students will be encouraged to interact throughout the class, contributing to the discussion, actively participating, and sharing their thought processes along the way. Class size is small and limited to five students so that everyone can engage fully in the conversation.
