Evaluación
I will offer feedback after students perform an exercise and, if needed, provide suggestions to help the student master the concept. Mistakes are a part of learning a musical instrument! So students should not worry if they play the exercise or a piece correct on the first try. Together we will learn how to progress through new music and learn new musical concepts.

Experiencia de clase

Please note: This class picks up where Early Intermediate Piano Level R leaves off. Prospective students should be familiar with major and minor triads/scales and one-octave arpeggios. Sight reading music is essential to this class so prospective students should be comfortable with reading music in the Level 4 Piano Adventures series (material from Level R). In this class, students will explore expressiveness in music while exploring chord inversions, two octave scales & arpeggios dotted eighth to sixteenth notes and discovering the stylistic traits of Edvard Grieg and Scott Joplin.

Please note: We will be using Piano Adventures Lesson Book Level 4 (2nd Edition) for this class. It is a required text for the class.

Week One: Review Power Scales in Sharp Keys (D, A & E). Begin Chord Inversion Etude.

Week Two: Continue to develop the chord inversion etude. Learn lead sheet for The Blue Danube. Develop LH blocked and broken chord accompaniments (hands separately).

Week Three: Review previous pieces and scales. Begin work on a gigue.

Week Four: Continue to develop the gigue. Begin Prelude in C by Bach.

Week Five: Continue to develop Prelude in C. Sightread a short exercise.

Week Six: Continue to develop Prelude in C.

Week Seven: Begin Wild Flowers. Start how to accompany a pop piece (lyrics and chords).

Week Eight: Review previously learned scales, chords and pieces.

Lista de útiles escolares
Please note: The class book will be Piano Adventures Lesson Book Level 4 (Orange cover/2nd edition). For advanced students, I also recommend getting Piano Adventures Performance Book Level 4. I may assign additional pieces for advanced students from the performance book or if the student is ahead in class work. The links for both books are below.
