Experiencia de clase

In this "teen only" adventure, get ready to test out your roleplaying skills in the fourth class of DND CLUBS Teenage D&D Some sessions will "talk at you"...not here, students are placed at the focus of the lesson and will be actively working together 10 minutes into the session. Through this one-session adventure, students will learn about the dynamics of roleplaying and NPCs, focusing on in game interaction as opposed to combat to accomplish their objectives. Additionally, they'll have to demonstrate a strong dose of teamwork, cooperation, and problem solving to save the day. This class is designed for new players. More experienced players are welcome so long as they realize this course is a tutorial in nature.

The adventure will be run by one of the DnD Club Academy's experienced, professional Games Masters, all of whom are either full time classroom teachers or game masters specifically trained at working with young people.

This class is designed for Level 2 characters.

This class is part of a five part series
Teen D&D 101: Heroic Adventuring (for absolute beginners who have are interested in finding out what D&D is all about, and learning about "race" and "class" within the game)
Teen D&D 102: Character Creation (for students who know about "race and class" and are ready to create their character)
Teen D&D 103: Defense of the Caravan! (for students who want to use their created character in a combat and roleplaying short adventure)
Teen D&D 104: The Crystal of Ranmir (for students to practice their social/roleplaying skills)
Teen D&D 111: Dragon of Icespire Peak Ongoing Adventure (a full campaign)

Adventure Overview:
You and your fellow adventurers have returned to Phandelin after a dangerous trip to the city of Neverwinter. Staying at the Stonehill Inn, you meet some travelers from the road who have some very valuable cargo. Unfortunately something has gone missing: a very important artifact. They have hired you to figure out what's happened, and you have only until daybreak to find The Missing Crystal...otherwise the whole village could be destroyed!

This class is highly interactive, putting learners at the center of the learning. They will make "in-game" decisions that will help them learn the detailed mechanics of Dungeons and Dragons. More importantly, we'll focus on how working together as a team is an effective way to overcome challenges both in game and in life.

Conceptually, we will learn how the game mechanics work and then we will use those mechanics with examples that occur in an D&D encounter! We will cover inter-character skills, interacting with the environment, and interacting with NPCs.

Expectations:
Students are expected to have their character sheets and dice ready at the beginning of the session. Students who arrive late to the session may find the group in the middle of an roleplaying interaction. They will be welcomed at an appropriate time, but should not interrupt if they arrive in the middle of the action.

Note to parents/students:

Some students may wish to use D&D Beyond for their character sheet. Account set up needs to happen before the session begins. The age recommendation for DNDBeyond.com is 13 years old and parents may use their email account to sign up their student for this account at their discretion. Families who do not wish to use DNDBeyond.com will be provided a selection of pregenerated characters from which to choose upon sign up and are still more than welcome to sign up for the course!

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will become more familiar with the mechanics of how interactive roleplaying connects with their attributes.

Orientación para padres
Roleplaying games offer a creative "sandbox" in which participants can engage in imaginative problem solving. Fantasy violence will not be directly depicted, but the possibilities of this within the game will be discussed. Students may wish to explore ideas related to their characters that involve in-game "weapons" and "spells" for the use of "in-game" violence.
