Experiencia de clase

In this one-time class, learners will discover how to run a Dungeons and Dragons 5e game as the dungeon or game master (also referred to as the DM or GM). The DM's job is to host a fantastical game within the player's mind using maps, character tokens, and of course, phenomenal storytelling and description. They take the lead as the one who weaves all the characters together into one big web, all while ensuring that their players are having a good time.

We will cover the basics such as:
-Where to start, what modules to pick, and if homebrewing (creating your own campaign) is right for you
-Basic rules that you need to know in order to run a smooth and successful game (even experienced DMs have to look up spells and rules in the handbooks!)
-Maps, tokens, playing on an actual table top VS a virtual table top (and the best starting points to do so)
-Descriptive language and setting the scene for the player's (the theater of the mind)
-Encouraging a safe and fun environment that makes your players feel open, accepted and not-so-anxious about roleplaying (many new players are afraid of this!)
-Running a session 0 (the pre-game before the game!)
-Note taking and how to keep building your world

During this class, the learners will also be encouraged to ask questions that they've particularly been wondering about in order to start their journey as the dungeon master. As we cover these basics, we'll be taking a look at an engaging presentation, but also diving into my real-life experience as I display my own virtual campaigns. I'll be showing how I organize my notes, how I engage my players, and a little bit of how to run on a virtual table top.

Let's roll for initiative and start adventuring!

Orientación para padres
Please be aware: table-top RPGs are full of surprises and improvisation. They may be rated PG due to fantasy violence, magic, scary themes. I will be keeping the game as family friendly as possible but there will be fantastic battles and possible character injuries.
