Experiencia de clase

Does your student love Science Fiction? Do they love D&D? This is a great fit for them, and we're excited to offer this indepth and expansive camping in the lanes of hyperspace. Welcome to Dead Suns...

Adventure Storyline:

When a fragment of an ancient alien superweapon surfaces in the depths of hyperspace, its discovery sets off a race to find the extraterrestrial doomsday device. Hopping from planet to planet in the Pact Worlds and beyond, the heroes must contend with both the undead Corpse Fleet and the nihilistic Cult of the Devourer, each of which seeks to acquire the alien artifact for its own purposes.

Can the heroes find and destroy the superweapon before their enemies seize control of it, or will the Pact Worlds' sun go dark and cold, a harbinger of dead suns across the galaxy?

Character Creation Guidelines

Players will be provided with character creation specifics upon sign up via the welcome message. Players start at level 1, and we require that students create characters that are willing to work with other characters in the game world. "Evil" (ie: purely selfish) characters are not allowed.

Campaign Schedule and Duration

The nature of Dungeons and Dragons is that of a collaborative story that presents the players with a different story each week. Week by week specifics cannot be determined specifically ahead of time.

Upon sign up, students will receive character creation instructions in the welcome message. The teacher/Dungeon Master will also reach out to them to connect with them before class and let them know what to prepare for during any specific week.

As this class is ongoing, players are welcome to join a session so long as open seats are available. We have found parents and families really value a consistent, ongoing group and many players join and stay for the duration. This adventure is scheduled to run and evolve as long as we have the minimum number of students to run a session and may last for 40+ weeks.

Who will like this class?
1) Players who understand the basic mechanics of D&D, and have enough knowledge to either create or select a character.
2) Players very new to table top roleplaying! This is a great "first campaign"
3) Players who want to explore a world, discover exciting places, and make complicated decisions.
4) Players who are interested in developing a story, interacting with quirky, noble, and sometimes nefarious characters.
5) Working together with other players to solve problems, and have a great time in the process!

As professional educators and professional dungeon master, we know how to make adventures all about the players and mesh different learning styles into a cohesive group.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:

Students agree adhere to our core philosophy that roelplaying games are team based, inclusive, and supportive of fellow players. Students will strive, to the best of their abilities, to help each other both in and out of game. Any deliberate behavior to negatively impact another player's character or make students feel excluded will be cause for potential removal from the course without refund. This is at the discretion of the DM and Adam Scott, the DnD Club head teacher.

There are some in game topics covered below:

1) Integrity/honesty: players are expected to roll dice honestly. Declaring a score consistently higher than what is mathematically possible will result in the GM correcting the issue by rolling for the player publicly.

2) Heroic Expectations: The players are the "good guys". We expect players to uphold that standard, by protecting (or not deliberately harming) innocent NPCs, supporting their fellow PCs, and working to demonstrate honorable in game behaviors. "PvP" is not allowed.

3) "But I read it on reddit...": The GM is the final arbiter of any in game details. We work to say "yes, and..." to any suggestions. However, GMs will make sure to ensure the game is balanced for all players. Ideas designed to "beat" the game at the expense of other players enjoyment will not be allowed.

Note regarding late arrivals: As this is a roleplaying experience that is based on the personalities of the players, abrupt inclusion of a new participant often disrupts the quality of the session for all involved. Students who arrive late to a session will be admitted at a time that does not disrupt the action. Accordingly, they may be asked to wait until next meeting or session. Refunds will be granted at the discretion of the instructor. Please communicate ahead of time if there are any potential scheduling/tech challenges for a scheduled section.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will get to experience all that a roleplaying game has too offer: teamwork, problem solving, social interaction, and basic statistical calculations. Through the process of playing, their characters will develop and evolve, leading to discussions with the instructor and other players about applying skills in a game setting.

Orientación para padres
Role-playing games offer a creative "sandbox" in which participants can engage in imaginative problem solving. Fantasy violence will not be directly depicted, but the possibilities of this within the game will be discussed. Students may wish to explore ideas related to their characters that involve in-game "weapons" and "spells" for the use of "in-game" violence. Player v. Player combat is not allowed.
