During this 10 week, multi-day course students will be meeting once a week to learn about how to draw human anatomy. Each class, we will start by looking at images to show bone and muscle structure of the piece of the body that we draw for that day. Students will then draw alongside the teacher step-by-step to build up the layers of the human body and its features. If time allows at the end of class, we will also be learning about skin tones and how to layer these colors to create a realistic range of skin tones. Students will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about drawing something specific or may have difficulty with. **Please note: we will be drawing bone structures and muscles that will be generalized, so students can have a basic understanding of what is happening below the skin. Though we will mainly be drawing these body parts with skin. We will be drawing the male and female forms and because this class will have under-aged students we will be drawing figures in a way as to make sure that everyone feels comfortable. The images for this class will be clothed figures, ranging in states of dress, from completely clothed in jeans and hoodies, to leotards, leggings, sports bras and underwear. Below, please find the class dates and topic of the day: Week 1- Bone and Muscle Structure of the Body Week 2- Frontal Portrait Week 3- 3/4 Portrait Week 4- Profile Portrait Week 5- Hand and Arm Week 6- Foot and Leg Week 7- Male Torso Week 8- Female Torso Week 9- Gesture Drawing Week 10- Final Timed Figure Drawing (These are incredibly fun and quick sketches to see what you have learned throughout our time together!)

Licenciatura en Música o Teatro o Artes desde University of Wyoming
Hello,
My name is Ms. Elizabeth Suriani, and I am a full-time artist from Northern Colorado. I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Art History in 2016. While at the University of Wyoming I primarily studied 2D art style, including oil painting and print making. I also studied in Florence, Italy during the fall of 2015 where I studied architectural and figurative drawing, as well as fresco restoration.
Since 2015 I have been teaching art and art history to students ranging from ages 5-17 years old with lessons ranging from basic instructions, all the way to advanced classes and color theory for older students. I love teaching art and am currently teaching two international students in Italy and Thailand.
I have recently returned home from teaching English as a second language in Bangkok, Thailand with students aging from 2-16 years old. I loved working with my students and miss them dearly.
On top of being a full-time artist, I have also started my own jewelry business, as well as teaching English Language to children in China!
When teaching, I love to keep things fun and light. I believe that seriousness doesn’t do a young mind any good when learning art at an early age, it tends to discourage them instead. I want to help my students find art or anything they are passionate about and feel like they have a space to ask questions, experiment, and flourish.
I can’t wait to see you in class!
