Each learner is given feedback during class. If desired, learners can also submit their artwork after class for additional feedback. :)Experiencia de clase
Students will draw with pencils. We will cover the basics of how to use different pencils for different value, and how to really draw the shapes and lines in the pictures we draw. Each class will begin with a brief exercise or lesson (about 5 minutes) where we will go over an art element (line, shape, color, value, form, texture, and space). The remainder of the class will be working through the drawing process on one of a variety of subjects: animals, landscapes, food, etc. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and talk to each other as long as they stay on topic. Overall, I love to keep things light and relaxing. Even though we are learning technical skills, I love to make it personal for each learner and encourage their insights and questions. Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn how to hold a pencil for different stages of drawing. They will learn the difference between different pencils and techniques for sketching and shading. We will discuss the different elements of design such as (line, shape, color, value, form, texture, and space). Other art terminology (focal point, hierarchy, contrast, etc.) will be used as we discuss each piece. Learners will be encouraged to sign their artwork in a way that honors and completes their work.

Pencils, erasers and paper. :) It is preferable to have art pencils, which have different H and B values, but normal school pencils will work just fine. I highly recommend a kneaded eraser because there are no "eraser crumbs" to wipe off the page and therefore, less smudging. It is also used to make different textures and shading. I use regular computer paper or a sketchbook.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Licenciatura en Música o Teatro o Artes desde Brigham Young University Idaho
Hello! I am BriAnn Ongesel. I have taught online classes for over 7 years and over 2 years here on Outschool. I teach art classes to ages 5-17.
I have my bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from Brigham Young University Idaho. I also studied UX/UI design from California Institute of the Arts. I am currently a freelance designer, online teacher, and mother of four.
I believe that the best learning comes from doing. Students learn from practicing the principles taught and from sharing what they learn with their peers. It is important to have fun in my classes, as well as talking with other students about class concepts and similar interests. Learning is about chasing what excites you and diving into all you can with it.
My hobbies include reading, drawing, and baking. I love good food - including 'nicecream', butternut squash, and cheesecake.
