In this class we will learn to draw simple, adorable cartoon animals! Each class we will focus on drawing a different animal using basic shapes and simple strokes. This class focuses on line drawing. No drawing experience is needed, but like all art experience is likely to result in more polished artwork. Perfect for beginner artists or more experienced learners who just love drawing animals! If we finish the technical drawing early, learners can add flair to their drawings or colour. Adding Colour will not be part of the planned lesson, but it is encouraged if time permits.

When I teach, I draw step by step, with the learners. I find that demonstrating is the best way to teach art. The classes are independent of each other, so you do not need to take them consecutively. Learners can join at any point.

Every week we will learn how to draw a new animal. I will also share a few cool facts about about each animal. Every class, learners will be required to bring 3 pieces of paper (or have a sketchbook), a pencil, an eraser, and a fine point black felt tipped pen. Colour is optional but encouraged.

It is important to be on time, because I start the lesson promptly. If learners are more than 5 minutes late they will likely miss the first step of the drawing.

I always mute my classes, but I encourage learners to unmute when they have questions or want feedback. I keep classes muted so learners can focus on me and the task at hand. Learners need to have a basic understanding of how to use zoom so they can unmute themselves as needed.

I will encourage learners to share art when they need feedback when it is finished, but leanrers do not need to show me their art. I understand that art is personal and that not everyone is comfortable sharing work in front of a class.

Here is a breakdown of what animals we will be doing week by week.
