Students will draw with pencil (art pencils preferred). This course is beginner friendly!! We will cover the basics of how to use different pencils for different values, and how to really draw the shapes and lines in the pictures we draw. With each drawing we will go over art elements and vocabulary (line, shape, color, value, form, texture, and space). The remainder of the class will be working through the drawing process: sketching, adjusting porportions, assessing light and shadow, and...

Pencils, erasers and paper. :) It is preferable to have art pencils, which have different H and B values, but normal school pencils will work just fine. I highly recommend a kneaded eraser because there are no "eraser crumbs" to wipe off the page and therefore, less smudging. It is also used to make different textures and shading. I use regular computer paper folded in half (so it is 5.5x8 inches) or a sketchbook (also 5.5x8 inches. This size is easily filled in an hour but larger paper or sketchbooks are great too.
