Draw a St.Patrick's Day Symmetrical Four Leaf Clover and a Leprechaun In this interactive drawing class, learners will observe then practise how to divide a square into four equal portions by creating a simple drawing grid - similar to ones used by renaissance artists. I've provided a print-out of four squares to start with. We will draw heart shapes inside to create a symmetrical four leaf clover that can be coloured and cut out later. If you don't have access to a printer, please provide your learner with four squares drawn (minimum) for this lesson. *Please supply a ruler or straight edge. The squares will also provide a starting point to draw a circle within the square. The circle will become a gold coin. Students will learn how a perfect circle exists inside a perfect square. These exercises are also great for fine dexterity with a pencil. We will also draw a leprechaun using simple shapes and lines to finish the St.Patrick's Day theme. Lastly, I've provided a colouring page (drawn by me) with ample room for your young artist to add a big curved rainbow above the pot of gold.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn how to create a symmetrical design using a traditional drawing method. Students will also use basic geometry to draw a circular "gold coin". Shifting from geometric shapes to organic, we will draw a leprechaun together.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Greetings parents and learners!
My name is Sandy Nichols. After receiving my diploma in Visual Communications at a Canadian art college many years ago, I began my 35 year career as an illustrator. My work has appeared in a variety of publications, including five children’s books. I was beyond thrilled to win a nation wide competition to illustrate Dennis Lee’s “Alligator Pie” (40th anniversary board book). I credit perseverance for this achievement, which is a quality I encourage all art students to foster.
I taught illustration and Design Drawing for seven years at a Canadian art university. Now, I am delighted to invite learners to my drawing classes.
My teaching philosophy is to honour how each mind views the world uniquely. Additionally, building confidence in young artists and encouraging them to try a new way of seeing to enhance their art. I believe there's no such thing as a bad drawing as long as you can learn from it and be willing to try again.
Fun fact about me: Sometimes I draw our family pet, my children, or their toys in my illustrations. When I'm not drawing, I like to try and grow all kinds of vegetables.
