I will be teaching about One Point Perspective in this lesson, and I will speak briefly about it's purpose, and when it was first used by artists to create depth in their work. I want my classes to be hands on, so students can be working as much or more than I will be talking. I teach each step and break it down into age appropriate steps that they can understand. I will model it, show "un" examples when needed. I expect my classroom to be a safe place to create, and I expect everyone in class to be kind in words and action. Students can raise their hand and talk to me at any point they have a question. The required knowledge the student needs beforehand is fine motor skills to use a pencil and permanent marker, be able to use a ruler for measurement and as a straight edge.
Metas de aprendizaje
The student will be able to:
Understand the need that artists had for creating depth in 2-D art works.
Learn horizon line, vanishing point, and orthogonal lines.
Create an aquarium scene with 1 point perspective using rulers, pencil, permanent marker, and watercolor.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello Everyone!
I have been an art teacher and talented and gifted teacher for a total of 20 years in Iowa! I have taught elementary art (kindergarten through fifth grade students) for most of that time because it is my passion! I have a bachelor's degree in both Art Education and Elementary Education, and a certification in talented and gifted. I am a licensed teacher in the state of Iowa.
I love to show students that they CAN do art, and believe in themselves. I am a life long learner, and believe in growth mindset! I love to incorporate art with science, literature, history, and art history. Art is the thread that weaves so many subjects and topics together.
My other passion is dog training. I started teaching positive reinforcement dog training with clients over 5 years ago. I have over 700 hours of positive reinforcement dog training experience, and I am an Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) AKC Evaluator as well as a Certified Trick Dog Instructor. I love creating better communication with people and their dogs!
I have two sons, who are college graduates, so my husband and I love to walk our dogs, bike ride, cooking together, and watch movies. I can't wait to meet you in one of my classes!
