Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Nivel Intermediate - Advanced
In this class, LGBTQ+ Dungeons and Dragons players will play the game over live video chat.

The instructor is assisted by a teen from our DQD Teen Edition, who will serve as Dungeon Master (providing the backstory, props, and "hosting" the game play) and the instructor will assist with game flow and interpersonal interactions. Stories will at times be specifically LGBTQ-focused and at all times game play and interaction will be very much centered on affirming LGBTQ youth.

Themes may include violence, romance, grief, loss, criminal activity, and so forth. This is the tween edition, so these topics will not be graphic and will be kept basically G-rated. The instructor does intend to keep the space a safe space for all marginalized individuals and will ensure that oppression is not glorified. Players who find game interactions upsetting will be given space to discuss this.

Players are welcome to bring characters they have created, or not. Every new campaign will have space for creating characters if players do not have a character ready to go (players do need to be basically familiar with the game and able to create a character in 10-15 minutes with guidance). We will post in the classroom ahead of time what the parameters are for characters so players can create or modify a character ahead of time if they wish.

Otros detalles

Necesidades de aprendizaje
Our social environment is neurodiversity affirming, learners tend to be neurodivergent, and we aim to be open and responsive to any stated or apparent needs. Communicating through text chat, voice, or a combo are all great.
Orientación para padres
This is a fantasy role-playing game. Themes may include violence, romance, grief, loss, criminal activity, general references to substances, and so forth. The instructor does intend to keep the space a safe space for all marginalized individuals and will ensure that oppression is not glorified. Players who find game interactions upsetting will be given space to discuss this. We may use third-party tools such as D&D Beyond or Heroforge, which require users to create an account (or parents to create one and supervise if users are under 13). It is possible to participate in the class without using any external websites, but this requires players to be familiar with manually filling out character sheets and able to do this during the meetings independently.
Requisitos previos
Players should have basic familiarity with the game, such as watching others play or via YouTube. We are low-key and friendly and happy to help out players who don't have all of the rules of gameplay memorized.
