Join me in this on-going piano class for (nearly) new pianists featuring fun Disney songs. If you are a big fan of Disney songs, from Mickey to Mulan, and you want to play the piano with other Disney fans, this is the perfect class for you! ⭐New to Outschool? Send me a message before you enroll!!!⭐ NOTE: Students must have had at least a handful of piano lessons first so they know their finger numbers and the names of the white keys. Set up a 1:1 with me first, or join one of my piano crash courses if your learner can't understand and win the first three levels of this game: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/899157471/fullscreen/ In each class, we will learn how to play a fun Disney song on piano. Each lesson will include: 🎵 Song sing-along 🎵 Review of music reading skills 🎵 Melody Play Along (playing in parts, then through the entire song) 🎵 Bonus Activities - one or more of the following: 🎹 Play a Music Theory Game 🎹 Practice Reading or Writing a Song Students will need to come ready with: 🎹 Sheet Music Purchased & Printed 🎹 Keyboard or Piano 🎹 In Zoom, turn on ORIGINAL SOUND. iPads → https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1pkirtPH9o other platforms → https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEZMRtrSsYY Practice between classes is highly recommended. Parents must stay off camera as much as possible but will need to assist as necessary during class time to help their young learner find the correct keys, clap along to the rhythm, and control the mute button in Zoom. Parents will also be expected to assist with at home practice throughout the week.
Absolutely NO EATING during class. Learners will need the constant use of both of their hands as well as to engage with their full attention. Learners who are eating on camera may be asked to leave.
I will screenshare games I have made in Google Drive, Kahoot! and Scratch to review music theory concepts if we have time in class.
Please make sure your learner has obtained the necessary sheet music linked under 'Supplies.'

As a teacher with over twenty years of experience, I have been running my own piano studio full-time for the last decade. I started learning music in piano lessons when I was four years old and am currently teaching my 15th academic year as a piano teacher. I also am a former public school art teacher, university adjunct professor, swim instructor, dance teacher, and math tutor.
The Suzuki method is at the core of many of my ideas about teaching music. Shin’ichi Suzuki believed that music is like a language and therefore should be taught like one-- learning to speak before reading and writing and that learning should take place in a loving and supportive environment, with constant repetition, and with helpful modeling from the parents. Like Montessori, the Suzuki philosophy is student-centered, includes lots of learning games and enjoyable activities, and demands that learning activities be planned according to the student's needs and level of development.
