Descubriendo las partes del tronco de un árbol

In this lesson, the young learners will learn the 5 layers of a tree trunk. We will use real pieces of trees to identify and label each layer. This is an introduction of forestry to younger children. We will start the class off by introducing ourselves by name and where we live. By using diagrams of the tree trunk, real pieces of wood, and an end of class drawing activity, each learner will be encouraged to recite the 5 layers of a tree trunk. From the outside in, the layers include bark, the cambium, sapwood, heartwood, and pith. Within these layers you can see the rings which indicate how much rain the tree received in each year. We'll talk about how the tree grows wider with more rain, and shows through the thickness of each ring. We will start class by introducing ourselves and where we live. Throughout the class we will practice listening to the different layers, reciting and building upon each layer, and create a fun craft at the end to show the five layers of a tree trunk.
