In this 13 week semester class, each week we will travel to a different part of the medieval world, discover and discuss what was happening, and then complete a fun art project that goes along with our weekly theme.  

Learners will engage with the stories of the people of the medeival world through discussion questions, and a step by step historically themed art project each week 

We begin each class with presentation about that week's topic, including questions and discussion in the classroom. Discussion topics will include the cultural context of the middle ages: socio/economic advances, religions, languages, individuals, ideas, stories and wars  through an interactive multimedia power point presentation.  Then, we continue the discussion while we draw something related to what we just learned.  Young learners have the opportunity to take their understanding to a deeper level as they draw what they just learned.  

Each week will be its own theme, and project:
Week 1- 100 Years War, Joan of Arc - draw Joan's coat of arms
Week 2 - War of the Roses - draw the Tower of London
Week 3 - The Kingdoms of Spain and Portugal - draw a medieval map
Week 4 – Africa in the Middle Ages - draw an African landscape
Week 5 - India in the Middle Ages - draw Indian archetecture
Week 6 - Exploring New Worlds - draw an exporer's ship
Week 7 - The Mayans of Central America - draw Mayan pyramids
Week 8 - The Gutenberg press - draw a stained glass window
Week 9 - Henry VIII - draw a portrait of King Henry
Week 10 - Exploring the Galaxy, Galileo - draw a telescope
Week 11 – Queen Elizabeth of England - draw a portrait of Queen Elizabeth
Week 12 - William Shakespeare - draw the Globe theater
Week 13 - The Spanish Armada - draw the Spanish Armada
