The Hands-On 2nd Grade Math Class: Multiplication Madness is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concept of multiplication and help them develop a strong foundation in multiplication tables. This course focuses on mastering multiplication facts for numbers 2, 3, 4, and 5. Through engaging hands-on activities, games, and real-world examples, students will deepen their understanding of multiplication and improve their computational fluency.

Weekly Schedule:

Week 1: Multiplication 2s
In the first week, students will dive into the world of multiplication with a focus on the 2 times tables. They will explore patterns and strategies to multiply by 2, using manipulatives, visual aids, and interactive games. Students will engage in group activities to develop a conceptual understanding of multiplication as repeated addition and begin memorizing the multiplication facts for 2.

Week 2: Multiplication 3s
Building upon the previous week's learning, students will continue their multiplication journey by focusing on the 3 times tables. They will explore different methods to multiply by 3, including arrays, skip counting, and visual representations. Through hands-on activities and interactive exercises, students will deepen their understanding of multiplication and develop fluency in the multiplication facts for 3.

Week 3: Multiplication 4s
In the third week, students will expand their multiplication skills to the 4 times tables. They will learn strategies to multiply by 4, such as using arrays, equal groups, and patterns. Students will engage in interactive activities and problem-solving tasks to reinforce the concept of multiplication and enhance their computational fluency in the multiplication facts for 4.

Week 4: Multiplication 5s
In the final week of the course, students will focus on the 5 times tables. They will explore different techniques to multiply by 5, including skip counting, patterns, and visual representations. Interactive games, manipulatives, and real-life examples will be used to reinforce the concept of multiplication and develop fluency in the multiplication facts for 5.

By the end of this Hands-On 2nd Grade Math Class: Exploring Multiplication, students will have a solid understanding of multiplication as repeated addition and be proficient in the multiplication facts for 2, 3, 4, and 5. They will have developed computational fluency, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply multiplication in real-life situations. This course will provide students with a strong foundation in multiplication, setting them on a path to success in future mathematical studies.

Interaction in this Flex Class:
Students will receive links to virtual games that they can play.

Each week students will be prompted to share pictures to the classroom of any problems that they have solved using manipulatives.  

Each week students will receive worksheets with time problems that they will turn in to the teacher by the end of the week.  The teacher will check and provide feedback on these worksheets.  

This is a Flex class; therefore, there will be no live meetings. Lessons will be provided via video recording.
