In this class, students will listen to a story, look at photographs of Gaudi's buildings, and learn how the great architect drew his inspiration from the world of nature. Children will discuss what architects do and the difference between architects and builders. They will use their imagination while exploring the exterior and interior of Gaudi's buildings and ponder what staircase, balcony, or roof reminds them of. Later in the class, children will create crafts inspired by Gaudi's ideas...
- • learn some facts about Gaudi • learn (or review) what architects do and the difference between architects and builders • practice their observation skills • use their imagination • exercise their fine motor skills while working on an art project
Supply List: • A SMALL carton box, like a tea box or a box from cosmetics (approximately 6-8 inches high) • Construction paper • Aluminum foil or parchment paper (about 10 X 10 inches; optional) • Paper towel tube or toilet paper tube • Scraps of colorful paper (wrapping paper or any other type) • Stickers of animals, sea world, trees, or flowers (optional) • Markers • Scissors • Scotch tape • Glue
For the craft portion of the class, parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-8).
