Experiencia de clase

Calling all junior paleontologists! We are going to explore the fascinating world of the theropods in this six week class. Each week we will spotlight a different family of theropods, using famous species to explore each group's features, looking at fossils and artists' representations to find out how these awesome creatures lived, ate, and protected themselves.

As we explore each group of dinosaurs, learners will make a portrait of the creature by coloring it in or drawing their own, and adding it to their very own book. By the end of this class, you will have a completed booklet that displays your knowledge of the theropod group and its many awesome creatures!

Week 1: Raptors - Deinonychus, Utahraptor, Velociraptor
Week 2: Tyrannosaurs - T. rex, Albertosaurus, Dilong
Week 3: Oviraptors - Citipati, Microvenator, Heyuannia
Week 4: Troodontids - Gobivenator, Jinfengopteryx
Week 5: Carnosauria - Carcharodontosaurus, Giganotosaurus
Week 6: Avian dinosaurs - Modern and extinct birds - Confuciusornis and Archaeopteryx

We will also discuss additional examples of each family beyond the featured species.

Learners are welcome to bring in any dinosaur toys, books, or other items that they would like to share relating to each week's topic.
