This class takes what we know to be best practices in reading instruction and combines it with the love of dinosaurs. Through multisensory strategies and interactive activities, the students explore art, music, science, movement, games, videos, and reading to learn. Our learning experience is a shared experience where learners can take risks, and the teacher can respond and adapt to what best suits each learner

Week 1Lesson 1Dinosaurs A=ZIn this class we will learn our class routine, and meet each other. We will talk about how letters make sounds and sounds make words. We will explore words and syllablesWeek 2Lesson 2Rhyme Time -We will learn rhyming words and practice finding and making rhyming words. We will continue to learn fun facts, draw pictures, and play dinosaur gamesWeek 3Lesson 3Building words with sounds - Initial soundsWe will practice taking words apart and putting them back together, practicing beginning sounds in words, and learning more vocabulary words to describe what different dinosaurs ate.Week 4Lesson 4Dinosaur Life Cycle - Initial Sounds in wordsToday we will learn about the dinosaur life cycle and continue using art, music, and stories to practice our phonic skillsWeek 5Lesson 5Largest and smallest dinosaur.While we explore the different types of dinosaurs, we will also learn how to move sounds around in new words. We will learn to stretch words out so we can hear each sound.Week 6Lesson 6What would you do ?We will continue manipulating sounds to make new words. We will learn to put our thoughts into words and how to blends sounds to make new wordsWeek 7Lesson 7Where did all the dinosaurs go?We will continue to learn new vocabulary words and continue to manipulate sounds in words. We will practice writing stories and drawing pictures, and listening to dinosaur storiesWeek 8Lesson 8Finishing up Part One - ReviewWe will review what we have learned about dinosaurs and practice our phonological and phonemic awareness activities.
- Students should demonstrate an understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds. They should be able to; * recognize and produce rhyming words * count, produce, blend, and segment words * Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial, and final sounds.
When I was young, I enjoyed imagining dinosaurs. I remember going to museums to learn more. I have a Master's in Early Childhood Education and a passion for teaching early literacy to young children.

All learners are welcome! Great care has gone into creating a multisensory curriculum that appeals to various learners. The curriculum uses art, music, movement, and hands-on learning activities, allowing all children to participate.

We will access websites that provide developmentally appropriate materials and answer our inquiry questions throughout the class. We will use Pink Cat games as our access to interactive games and classroom tools to make our program fun and engaging.
