***Take note, this camp has been changed to three days rather than four as stated in the video*** Are you ready to learn more about your favorite bird, mammal, insect, spider, fish, invertebrate, reptile, or amphibian that lives in the desert habitat? Yes? Then join this class and learn how to use informational text, internet resources, and a graphic organizer to create an oral animal report that you will present to the other students in our classroom. Day 1 The teacher will introduce the topic using a picture book and National Geographic Kids. I will model how to use informational text for gathering facts about animals. We will work together to fill out a graphic organizer and begin illustrating posters. Bring your poster board and art supplies! Day 2 We will continue to work on posters and oral presentations during class time. Bring your supplies! **Reptile/Pet Show-and-Tell Day Day 3 Students will give their oral reports. The audience will ask questions, fill out a rubric, and give compliments and observations to the speaker on their performance. We will take a break in between presentations to do some energetic desert creative movement. Homework: Students will be asked to continue working on their posters during their free time at home. It will be important to practice the oral report in front of family members.
