Class Experience

In this class we will work together to create and decompose numbers through 20.
We will do this using various processes including:
-part, part, whole composition
-skip counting to find parts
-take-away subtraction as a way to decompose
-chunking subtraction

Students will be constantly involved in the creation and decomposition on their own papers and will be supported through constant positive feedback.

We will also work with the "open-middle" structure, that there is more than one way to find the answer.

Learning Goals

Students will gain understanding of composing and decomposing numbers through 20.
