Debating is all about listening to and understanding other people’s arguments – and then figure out how to respond to them and make your side’s case in a logical and persuasive manner. By doing this, you will quickly become very good at analysing ideas and perspectives – applicable far beyond debating. It is a fantastic opportunity to hone your analytical skills and build your confidence when speaking.

We will hold weekly debate sessions, where we aim to collectively improve our skills and engage in fun and interesting topics of debate. This will also provide you with plenty of opportunities to make new friends and build social groups. 

Each session will be respectful, with everybody encouraged to air their views. We will seek to find common ground where possible and opposing views debated vigorously. 

This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their communication skills and provide them with confidence. 

The first 4 weeks of this class will be as follows:

Week beginning 22 July 2024 - The minimum wage should be $15/hour
Week beginning 29 July 2024 - Homework should be banned
Week 05 August 2024 - Social media has improved social communication
Week 12 August 2024 - College and university should be tuition free
