The world of Aquarius is drowning under an inky dark ooze know as the Shadow Tide! It is up to an unlikely group of heroes to discover the secret of the Shadow Tide and find a way to stop its rise before the entire planet is engulfed! This Dungeons & Dragons ongoing campaign will allow learners to use the D&D 5e rules to have an adventure on the high seas! Our heroes will need to fight against some incredible creatures on mysterious islands, fight (or escape from) vile pirates looking for loot, and try to find the reason the Shadow Tide is rising all over the alien world of Aquarius! In this sandbox style setting, learners will have the freedom to explore the islands of Aquarius as they wish. Though the threat of the Shadow Tide always looms near. All of the races and classes in the Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition Player's Handbook are available. Our first meeting for this class will be character creation. We will create new 1st level characters who are just beginning their adventures on the high seas. It's strongly recommended learner's make a character that's willing to be a part of a ship's crew. Only by working together will your party be able to survive and succeed on their adventures. Brooding loners who care only for themselves make poor shipmates. This is an ongoing class so learners can hop in and out as they wish. Previous experience with the adventure isn't necessary! This adventure is very open, so the characters will need to use teamwork and their decision making skills to determine what actions they take. In this adventure choices and decisions have consequences, so the direction of the adventure will depend on the character's actions. Week 1: Using the D&D 5th edition Player's Handbook we will create 1st level characters that are read to begin their adventures! Week 2: Our heroes are hired by the sage Equais to transport her to the Tower of Tessa the Red, archmage of Aquarius. All seems fine until the lookout spots a patch of Shadow Tide! And it appears to be trying to intercept them! Week 3: The heroes find themselves ship wrecked on a Torath-Ka, island of the fierce Ugaks! With their ship damaged and most of the crew captured by the Ugaks, the heroes will need all their skills and daring to brave the monster infested jungle and save their crewmates! Week 4: After many setbacks, the ship finally arrives at the Teeth, a series of sharp mountain peaks that surround a peaceful lagoon. The only way to the lagoon is through the Gullet, a deadly rapid current that has claimed many vessels. Once within the lagoon, our heroes must make it to Tessa the Red's tower perched at the top of a massive water spout! Since this is an open world sandbox setting, future adventures will depend on how the learners want to proceed, which islands on the planet of Aquarius they find interesting, and quests they want to pursue. No previous experience is necessary! We will teach all the rules needed during class. If you've always been curious about Dungeons & Dragons, this is an opportunity to have a small taste of this imaginative world. Learners will need rpg dice to participate. These can be physical dice or you can use an online dice roller or app. House rules: By joining our class you agree to abide by our house rules 1. No evil characters 2. No Player versus Player (PvP) 3. You cannot do anything to another Player Character (PC) without the player's consent (ie stealing from them, throwing them at a bad guy, etc) 4. Be honest about your die rolls 5. Remember, RPG's are a team sport so be respectful and kind to your party members and the Dungeon Master. Role playing games are excellent vehicles for both curriculum based and soft skills. Learners will have the chance to use the following skills in class: planning, leadership skills, organizational skills, project management, decision making, situation analysis, storytelling, writing, reading, and math among others.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hi, I'm Ed!
I'm so happy to be teaching on Outschool!
I'm a professional puppeteer, a gamer, and a home school dad!
During my career as a puppeteer I've performed with the Muppets, the Jim Henson Company, and Sesame Street among others. I've been a puppeteer on feature films, tv shows, and videos throughout my 30+ year career. I have toured internationally with Walking with Dinosaurs-the Arena Spectacular for the past 11 years. Currently I own a company that tours throughout the Southeast.
As a home school dad I helped teach my son his entire school career.
I'm a huge fan of games, especially role-playing games! Playing a role playing game can improve skills like math, reading, comprehension, team work, and creative problem solving.
Students learn better when they are in an environment where they want to learn. Using puppetry and games, I've been able to educate students of all ages on a variety of topics. In fact, puppetry and games can be used to teach any subject under the sun!
