I will teach you all about the day-to-day responsibilities of a marine mammal caretaker and trainer! To cover this, I will run you through a typical day at a marine mammal facility, covering getting their food ready, checking their health, providing them with enrichment, cleaning their habitat, and even basics on training them! Although it's an amazing job, there are definitely some yucky aspects (lots of raw fish!), so you will learn the good and the "bad". The first half of the class will go over what the typical day looks like, and why all these daily tasks are important. The second half of class will cover the process of becoming a dolphin trainer (education, volunteering, etc.), the importance of marine mammal conservation, and it will cap off with a quick lesson about how to train animals! This class will primarily be a lecture, but I will break it up with fun facts, videos and pictures relating to the topic. We will definitely have time for questions, and I'd love to hear from you! At the end, we will play a fun training game! Absolutely no prior knowledge required.
