👨‍🚀 Welcome to coding and cybersecurity - This is a unique class that incorporates the basics of coding and cyber security in an easy to follow 20 lesson curriculum. This class includes the first level (10 classes)
In this flex class, learners will complete lessons that will teach the syntax, structure, & procedures for writing programs in Python while also learning the basics in cyber security.
_______________________________________________
💻 Cybersecurity lessons cover the concepts of communication systems, hardware, networks, software, the Internet of Things, security, digital citizenship, and more.

🏆 🥇 Students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of all lessons with a satisfactory score.

👀 In the coding lessons, learners will learn concepts that cover the syntax, structure, & procedures for writing programs in Python. Learners will create a game or animation at the end of each lesson to show what the they have learned.
_______________________________________________
❤️ This series is broken into 10 individual lessons.
💚 All lessons cover individual concepts and practice.
💜 Lessons are conducted in a platform called Codesters
💙 There are NO live meetings in this class, but the teacher is available to answer questions via the Outschool virtual classroom.
________________________________________________
🌟🎓📜 Upon finishing the two levels of this course successfully, students will receive a certificate of course completion.
🌟NOTE: This class is best for beginners who are at least 10 years old. Please let us know if your child needs a grade report or certificate of completion for one of our courses. We will gladly provide one upon your request once your learner has completed and met all requirements of the course.

📆 A schedule of our lessons can be found in the syllabus.

💻 How is the class structured?
Each week, students will watch a short video and they will complete a series of activities and a coding project in a learning platform called Codesters. The teacher will be available for questions and help any day of the week. All messages will be answered within 24 hours via the Outschool virtual classroom. Messages are forwarded to the email on file in Outschool.

😃 How much will learners get to interact with you and each other?
Learners will interact by viewing each other's projects on the Codesters platform and providing feedback within the Outschool comment feature under each week's thread. Learners will be required to answer discussion questions and record videos that will be viewed by their classmates in order to begin meaningful conversations about cybersecurity and coding.

Any required experience or knowledge learners need?
No coding experience is required for students 10 and older. For students younger than 10 years old, I highly recommend taking our Scratch classes before enrolling in this class.

How much time will the student need to dedicate to this class?
This particular program works great for Flex because the lessons are loaded into a learning platform. There are 10 total lessons in level 1 with one project due each week. The best way to manage time would be to designate an hour to 90 minutes each week for this class, preferably before Saturday as lessons are due each Sunday.

*Note for parents about the learning platform that will be used for this class:
The cost of the licensing for the virtual platform is included in the class fee. The teacher will open the account for your learner and provide login instructions prior to the first lesson.
