Students will continue to learn how to crochet in this advanced beginners' class. Crocheting is not only a fabulous life-long hobby, but it is also a great way to express yourself with your own creations! Imagine wearing a one-of-a kind hat or scarf that you crocheted yourself! Each week, students will learn a new stitch or stitch group and learners will progress at their own rate. This class is structured as a workshop, where students will learn a new stitch or stitches and practice during class. Mrs. Borton will demonstrate each stitch and then help each student to learn the new stitches. The class will be completely hands-on. Week 1 - Students will review chain and single crochet stitches and learn to make a small crocheted animal using those stitches. Week 2 - Students will review double crochet and learn how to combine single and double crochet to make a piece of crocheted lace. Week 3 - Students will continue working on crocheted lace. Week 4 - Students will learn how to do the half double crochet stitch. Week 5 - Students will learn how make creative granny squares with different inside parts. Week 6 - Students will learn continue working on creative granny squares. Since this is an advanced beginners' class, and students need to know how to do the basics of crocheting before class. Learners should take the PART 1 class before starting this class. ***Please note*** Students will progress at their own rate in class. Some students will learn all the stitches and some students will want to keep practicing the basic stitches. ***Another note*** This class will be offered EVERY OTHER week. SUPPLIES: 1. The yarn should be a smooth yarn, and not one that has a lot of bumps or loops. 2. A crochet hook in a size G (4 mm) or H (5 mm) 3. small pair of blunt scissors PLEASE NOTE: Other sizes of yarn and hooks may be used. In general, if you use a bigger yarn, use a bigger hook.
