Developing a creative story beginning with a solid hook, writing a middle with purpose that includes 3 paragraphs and creating a closing paragraph will be taught in this class. 

Through brainstorming with fellow learners and the teacher, a list of ideas for animals will be generated. After teacher modeling via mini-lessons, learners will put into practice skills they are learning in class by writing a story. Creative writing elements such as creating a character, character point of view, developing a plot and having a writing style will be integrated into the mini-lessons. Conventions for writing will be reviewed as learners work.  Learners can add illustrations to their writing as time and interest allow. 

The class will be structured as teacher facilitated with frequent interaction and sharing between students. I will teach through modeling using my own ideas and writing to encourage learners as they work. My teaching style is upbeat, positive and interactive. I see myself as a facilitator who supports and encourages learner ideas and work. Learners will interact with me and each other frequently in the class via discussion and sharing of work.
