Do you love writing flash fiction, short stories, and novels, or even dream of creating a book series? Find your creative home here! Our club is a vibrant community where you can seek challenges, build connections, and watch your writing flourish. Make new friends, gain confidence, and grow your writing skills in a supportive and fun environment. Supportive Community: I love helping kids create stories. My class is designed to enhance kids' creative confidence, inspire their imagination, and build a core love of writing. You'll find a supportive and positive environment where you can thrive as a writer, no matter your skill level. Customized Learning: Designed for students who enjoy storytelling and creative writing, the class covers different genres or writing topics along with other writing tips every week. Topics are student-driven, which means my message box is open 24/7 for lesson suggestions, writing questions, and prompt requests. Individual Feedback: Students are welcome to send their writing projects to my message box for one-on-one feedback. They are free to let me know what type of feedback they are looking for. I'm also happy to help students generate ideas, work on their plots, come up with names, etc. In the class Fuel Your Imagination! I'll share engaging, thought-provoking prompts and pictures from various genres to spark new creative ideas for scenes or stories each class. While I provide prompts for inspiration, students are free to write about any topic, genre, or story of their choosing. Dedicated Writing Time: Students will have approximately 15-20 minutes to write independently (teacher support will always be available). This structured writing time helps new learners develop the essential habit of regular writing, boosting their skills and confidence. During this period, students can ask individual questions and seek guidance as needed. Additionally, students can always send their work or questions outside of classroom time for more support or if they don't feel comfortable asking during class. Optional Share Time: After the writing session, time is provided for students who want to share what they're working on with the class. I do not require or pressure students to share their work. I know how uncomfortable this can be for some learners. We will also do a fun ice-breaker to get to know each other before we discuss the topic of the day. Weekly Discussion topic: The focus will be on improving writing and storytelling skills that can be used throughout many genres. Students are welcome to continue working on their writing while we discuss the topic. The class covers a wide range of writing-related topics that are driven by student suggestions. Topics won't build on each other, so students don't have to worry about missing a previous topic. Flexible and Ongoing: This class is ongoing, so kids can join anytime without worrying about missing previous lessons. Try out a single class or keep coming back—no prior experience is needed, just a passion for stories and something to write with! I encourage advanced students to do extra writing outside of class, but it is not required. Join us to improve your writing while making friends and having fun! Here is how the class is designed: 20 Minutes: Dedicated Writing Time with prompts 10-15 Minutes: Optional Share Time:(depending on how many students want to share) 15-20 Minutes: Weekly Discussion topic A tentative schedule of the topic to discuss weekly (this can and will change based on what students request or need), Week of October 27-November 2: Characterization Week of November 3-9: Gray Characters Week of November 10-16: Plot Twist Week of November 17-23: What is a Mary Sue/Gary Stu? and Book Series Week of November 24-30: No Class Week of December 1-7: How to Create Emotions in Your Story Week of December 8-14: Creating Scenes and Challenging the Reader with Questions Week of December 15-21: Creating Compelling Side Characters (More topic coming soon!) Orientación para padres
Please note that this is a writing class that covers a wide range of topics and allows students to share their works; a certain amount of violence and drama is to be expected!
Some topics we cover are how to write fight scenes (such as battles), romance (PG only), magic, mythological creatures and monsters, villains, character death, and character weakness, though I keep the content PG as much as possible. I ask parents to check the topic and, if they have any concerns, to contact me.
I ask that all students let peers know about the content of their story if they believe it might be unpleasant or upsetting to a classmate before they begin reading it aloud. Those who would prefer not to hear a given story are welcome to turn their volume down until it's complete.
That said, we strictly do not allow students to share stories that involve hate crimes, gore and extreme violence, suicides, sexual assault, or animal abuse.
I also ask students to please contact me before sharing if the story content is about sensitive topics like real religions, horror elements, mental health, or dark/ themes. This can be done by privately messaging me in chat. (If a student doesn't know how to do this they are always welcome to ask for help)

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Licenciatura en Ciencias Sociales desde University of Wyoming
I have written in many writing fields including creative, technical, and academic. While getting my Bachelor's in Social Sciences I took several writing classes including technical and creative writing. This was beyond the fact that my degree was heavily focused on writing various types of academic and research papers, giving me a solid background in researching and writing across various topics and fields. Beyond my formal classes, I have been a lifelong writer including improving my writing skills through self-learning since childhood. My love for writing started with fan fiction, then later branched out into other writings like blogging, freelance article writing, and creative writing such as novels and short stories. I still have a love for fan fiction as I believe it is a great stepping stone to help build the confidence of young writers.
