Why Learning English Through Creativity and Play Matters. These creative workshops are designed for children aged 8-12 to explore English fun and imaginatively. By blending English learning with creative activities like storytelling, art, and play, children can express themselves more freely, build confidence, and develop a lasting love for the language. Creative engagement helps children connect with words and concepts, making learning more intuitive and memorable. Each 1.25-hour session includes interactive presentations, mini quizzes, and creative activities for both groups and individuals to keep learning dynamic and engaging. Workshop titles and materials needed for each one: Symbols and Logos: What do they mean to us? For the creative segment of this workshop (20 minutes), students will use dot stickers on paper or cardstock, along with drawing materials. If these supplies aren't available, we'll adapt by using the whiteboard to collaboratively design our favorite logos and symbols.. Exploring Feelings through Emoji Creations For the creative segment of this workshop (20 minutes), we will use dot stickers on paper or cardstock, along with a variety of drawing materials. If students don’t have these supplies, we can collaborate on the whiteboard to draw our favorite emojis together. Art and Geometry: Discovering Hilma af Klint For the creative segment of this workshop (25 minutes), we will need various drawing materials, rulers, and paper. Yayoi Kusama: A World Made of Dots For the creative segment of this workshop (25 minutes), we will use dot stickers on paper or cardstock, along with a variety of drawing materials. If students don’t have these supplies, we can use the whiteboard to collaboratively create our own dot worlds. Flavors Around the World: Sculpting Your Favorite Food During the creative segment of this workshop (25 minutes), we will sculpt our favorite foods using air-dry clay or play dough. If these materials aren’t available, drawing your favorite foods is a great alternative! Origami Creations: The Pelican Family During the creative segment of this workshop (25 minutes), we will learn to fold origami pelicans using square paper. You will need at least six square pieces of cardstock or paper, along with a glue stick and scissors. Wings of Wonder: Exploring the Beauty of Butterflies During the creative segment of this workshop (25 minutes), we will use colored markers, paper, scissors, a glue stick, and optional materials like pipe cleaners, masking tape, and clothespins. If you don’t have some of these supplies, you can also create drawings on paper. Mandalas of the World: Exploring Cultures and Symbols (25-minute creative activity) For this activity, we will use colored paper, scissors, a glue stick, and tissue paper (such as gift wrap). Drawing materials are also welcome to enhance our designs.
