Experiencia de clase

In this Flexible Class, I have created curriculum that delivers step-by-step lessons engaging my students in the elements of art and the principles of design through painting all on your own schedule. There are no "live" classes with the teacher or other art students.

Learn more about how Flex Classes work here: https://intercom.help/outschool/en/articles/3196046-flexible-schedule-classes-for-learners

Using their color mixing and color theory skills, students will create original works of art of increasing complexity and skill in a variety of media that reflect their feelings and points of view. Students will learn color theory, color and with the 'elements of art' to create several original artworks.

This is part I of an art Foundations Series and includes the following learning systems:

- Pre-recorded video lessons hosted on a COPPA approved website of me teaching the class and demonstrating step-by-step the art activity/ies of the week.
- Announcements and daily check-ins in our classroom
- Weekly art projects
- Discussion between the teacher and other students in our classroom
- Sharing of your projects asynchronously in the classroom. Students will share projects that other students can learn from, receive teacher feedback and be able to ask questions and interact as a whole class in our classroom.

National Visual Art Standards Covered –

VA:Cr2.1.4a Explore and invent art-making techniques and approaches.
VA:Cr2.2.5a Demonstrate quality craftsmanship through care for and use of materials, tools, and equipment.
VA:Cr3.1.2a Discuss and reflect with peers about choices made in creating artwork.

How it works:

In the Classroom on Sunday, the teacher will post the class presentation and materials, discussion prompts and link to the pre-recorded video/s focused on the current topic/s including a demonstration of the art project. The weekly presentation contains relevant and focus key vocabulary terms, knowledge, graphics/images, examples, discussion questions and the important link to the video lesson.

During the Week – students will complete the art project and are also expected to answer at least one discussion question and will either upload a photo or short video that demonstrates their artwork in progress and to respond to other students' projects/works in progress.
Ms. Eck will provide positive feedback on each piece and respond to any questions that students ask. (This may be in a video comment or written form in the Discussion Board).

End-of Week (Friday) –Students will share their completed artwork for Ms. Eck, and any all enrolled students are encouraged to interact in the Classroom Discussion board with comments and feedback about their shared artwork, comment on the creative process and enjoy a virtual "gallery walk" of the week's hands-on art activity.

In our classroom, all students are encouraged to share completed projects that other students can learn from, receive teacher feedback and be able to ask questions and interact as a whole class.

My learners will be engaged in hands-on learning activities and get to interact with myself and each other each in every class meeting. The structure of this class is a combination of teacher guided instruction, demonstration, independent practice and interacting with each other through discussion. The classroom space is one in which each student will feel safe, understood, respected and valued.

Students must be able to use paintbrushes, a ruler, a viewfinder and a compass. No previous experience required but will support learning and skills development experience. Beginners welcome!

I am offering this Flexible Schedule class because I love art and color in all of it's forms and introducing my students to the magic of making art brings me much joy. I love creating something beautiful that didn’t exist ever before! I have been making art since I was three-years old and grew up in a home environment where creativity was a way of life.

I’ve always been creative and interested in colors, textures, textiles, fashion design and traveling the globe appreciating diverse cultures. I am inspired by nature, the cosmos and color most of all! To me, making art, expressing myself creatively and teaching others to do that, are as natural as breathing. Kids of all ages love my inspired, relaxed and energetic style of teaching art.

I look forward to having the opportunity to meet and create art together.
