Each week, we will work on putting together a lap book that will be answering and discussing the assigned chapters. We will then make a craft related to the book. Week 1: Students will have already read chapter 1: "Little House in the Big Woods" and chapter 2: "Winter Days and Winter Nights". For the first class, the students will also be making a yarn doll. Week 2: Students will have already read chapter 3: "The Long Rifle" and chapter 4: "Christmas". For the second class, we will be making a clove pomander just like Ma was given for Christmas! Week 3: Students will have already read chapter 5: "Sundays" and chapter 6: "Two Big Bears". For the third class, we will also make homemade butter! Week 4: Students will have already read chapter 7: "The Sugar Snow" and chapter 8: "Dance at Grandpas". For the fourth class, we will make a potpourri satchel. Laura and Mary would have put this little satchel with their clothes to make them smell good! Week 5: Students will have already read chapter 9: "Going to Town" and chapter 10: "Summertime". For the fifth class, we will make a whirligig! Week 6: Students will have already read chapters, 11: "Harvest", chapter 12: "The Wonderful Machine". For the sixth class, we will make homemade cornbread muffins (using a modern day method- the microwave!) Week 7: The students will have read the final chapter 13: "The Deer in the Wood". We will also put together a "pretzel log cabin". For this class, I would also love for the students to share their favorite parts of the book "Little House in the Big Woods" (if they are comfortable).
