This 4 lesson self paced course is a deeper dive into my one-time class, Phonics Instruction for the Closed Syllable in my Crack the Code series. This class includes extra activities for letter and sound work and learning about High Frequency words that break the syllable type rule.

 My Crack the Code series focuses on the decoding side of the Simple View of Reading, which is included in the Science of Reading research. 

The Simple View  of Reading is:
                 Decoding (D) x Language Comprehension (LC) = Reading Comprehension (RC)

In this course, we will start building the bridge to reading comprehension by focusing on the basics of decoding.  Once they have learned about a syllable type, they will go on word hunts in their favorite books and practice using their new decoding skills. This will help transfer their decoding skills to real life reading.

In each lesson, students will gain a deeper understanding of the Closed Syllable type (D).  Students will also be introduced the steps to syllabicating multi syllable words.  

I will use an interactive classroom. to post the videos.  A video will be posted on how to use the classroom. 

Each lesson will include a sequence guide to help navigate the recommended order to complete the activities and videos.  The guide will also explain any extra activities to enhance the lessons.
 
I provide extra activities and/or games each week for even more practice.
