Qué está incluido

1 reunión en vivo
1 horas presenciales
Tarea
1 hora por semana. Students will receive chess puzzle sheets to be printed out. The chess puzzle sheets will be discussed in class to make sure all students understand how to solve them.
Evaluación
A learner is assessed by understanding the answers on each chess puzzle sheet and knowing how to checkmate to win their games. When a student practices chess at home with others, or on-line, their skills will increase--this will reflect in their knowledge of the game.

Nivel Beginner
The students will learn that the Back Rank Checkmate is one of the easiest checkmates to make. They will learn that this checkmate can happen long after the King has castled. The students will notice that a King is trapped behind his own pawns on his back rank (rank 1 for White, and rank 8 for Black). A Rook or a Queen can then shoot across the board and go to that back rank, checkmating the King, if he is unguarded. In order to prevent this, the students will be taught to move a pawn or move their King ahead of time to stop this Back Rank Checkmate from occurring.
Metas de aprendizaje
The students will learn that the Back Rank Checkmate is one of the basic checkmates that every Chess player should master. Studying this checkmate will help the students to see patterns in their games, to recognize possible attacks, and to know how to prevent this from happening.

I am a retired public school teacher of 26 years and currently am a Supervisor of Academic Programming for the Central New York Chess organization on Outschool (https://outschool.com/teachers/CENTRAL-NY-CHESS-INC?usid=wUq7nkLS&signup=true&authTrigger=follow_teacher&follow=true&utm_campaign=share_leader_link). I have taught children and adults in Beginning and Intermediate 1 Chess classes for 23 years in after school programs, summer Chess Camps, online in my Cool Chess classes and now for Central New York Chess. I love to see how Chess helps the brain to think, to make predictions, to sequence, see patterns, etc. I love to see when a student learns how to checkmate and improves upon their game! I teach One Time Cool Chess classes and Private and Multi-Day Classes with Central New York Chess. I enjoy Art, Chess, Scrapbooking, and Travel! I hope to see you in my chess classes soon!
