We all experience feeling anxious, but often, we see that this emotion can be difficult to regulate at times.  This class is designed to teach your learner calming techniques and ways to confidently handle those anxious feelings.
 
Topics covered:

-What does it mean to be anxious?
-Identifying how the body looks and feels when feeling worried, nervous, or anxious
-Calming coping skills to help with anxiety
-Building Confidence: Using words to express our feelings

All of my classes are led with empathy, kindness, patience, and understanding. I will lead this class in the same manner.  We will interact with each other throughout the class so that I have a clear understanding of what your learner is learning and to determine what further teaching is needed. 

I have created a variety of icebreakers and slides that I will use during class.  Learners will be encouraged to participate with me during a short role-play activity.

As a Professional School Counselor for the past 14+ years, I have had the pleasure of working with all students both neurodivergent and neurotypical.

1. This class is suited for everyone and personal/sensitive subjects will not be discussed. 2. As a reminder, per Outschool's class content policy: "Classes offering techniques to handle day-to-day stress or anxiety are allowed, but classes offering therapeutic support specifically for learners suffering from chronic anxiety or anxiety disorders would be a medical service." 3. This class is educational and designed to teach strategies to cope with anxious feelings. This class is not therapy and should not take the place of therapy.
