Tarea
1-2 horas por semana. Our class has the best kind of homework! Make the pies and then enjoy them! :) A flex class is fun and convenient because learners can make the pies, as well as complete the assignments on their own time, but these classes are more fun when learners also interact with one another. Each week I want the learners to think about the recipe and the ingredients we are using. Why are these ingredients an essential part of that particular recipe? What ingredients could you add to change the recipe? I will ask questions about the pies, recipes, or pie-making process at the end of each week. Students should be prepared to share successes, as well things that might have been a struggle as they learned something new. Students will also be asked to share a photo with the class of at least 3 of their pies.

Experiencia de clase

** THIS IS A FLEX CLASS AND DOES NOT HAVE LIVE MEETINGS **

Students will learn how to make delicious, but easy homemade pies! We will use already prepared crusts - you may choose to purchase the crusts or make them at home. (If you want to learn to make pie crusts, I have another pie flex class that teaches how to make different pie crusts, along with other types of pies - join me in that class too!)

A list of supplies and ingredients will be sent out each week on Wednesdays (if your class starts on Saturdays) or on Fridays (if your class starts on Mondays). This will give you time to plan and shop for any ingredients you might need. Photos of the ingredients and supplies will be included to help when shopping for ingredients. (It's always nice to have a visual of what you are looking for if it's a new ingredient.)

Recipes and instructional videos will be sent out early each Saturday/Monday morning (depending on the start day of your class) so you can make your pies anytime throughout the week that works best for you. I record videos of the entire pie-making process, so we are making each recipe together step by step through the videos.

I will be available throughout the 5-week class for questions and comments and will do my best to respond quickly.

Because this is a flex class, learners are encouraged to post weekly on the classroom page. I will ask questions about the pies, recipes, or pie-making process at the end of each week. Students should be prepared to share successes, as well things that might have been a struggle as they learned something new. Students will also be asked to share a photo with the class of at least 3 of their pies.

My class is a safe place to learn, grow, make mistakes, laugh together, feel confident, and find new ways to be successful. I want everyone to feel safe and happy while creating in the kitchen. Come make pies with me!

Orientación para padres
Parents are strongly encouraged to assist the learner in the kitchen. Learners will be using the stove during some of the classes. Students will also be using a hand mixer and a knife during different lessons to mix ingredients or cut fruit. Please check ingredients for possible allergies and be aware that some of these recipes use gluten, milk products, or other allergens. If you have an allergy concern, please message me regarding possible ingredients that may be a concern for your learner. Parental supervision is encouraged.
Lista de útiles escolares
The supply lists and ingredients will change each week, depending on the pies we are making, and will be sent out 3 days before class begins so learners can plan and prepare for the upcoming week. As with all of my cooking and baking classes, I will include photos as well as lists for the supplies and ingredients we will be using to make it easier for students to see and gather what they need for class.

Most of the classes will require these supplies:
Hand Mixer/Blender or a whisk
2 Medium-Large Mixing Bowls
Prepared crust - (pastry crust, graham cracker crust, or other preference)
Rubber spatula
Wooden spoon
Measuring spoons and cups
Knife for cutting fruit
Medium plate

Cooking and baking are some of my favorite hobbies and I enjoy spending time making a variety of foods for my family. During the fall and winter seasons, I usually make 20-30 pies for friends and family. I have been cooking and baking for my family for over 25 years. However, my hobby truly began when I was a young girl and I wanted to make and create different foods and dishes in the kitchen. I am excited to share this wonderful hobby with young chefs and create an excitement in them as well.
