Qué está incluido

Tarea
2-4 horas por semana. Students should spend about 60-90 minutes a week outside of class practicing the words they've learned. (30 minutes a day, 2-3 times a week). Students can use the games and activities used in class for practice. It is not possible to learn a language only practicing twice a week, so I encourage students to review a bit every day! Students can use quizlet, kahoot, and google docs to practice. Occasionally, there will be other homework assignments, such as drawing and labelling a house with rooms or furniture, creating a grocery list, etc.
Evaluación
Students will be given a letter grade based on their score for each test and exam (middle and end of course). A--90-100%, B--80-89%, C--70-79%, D--60-69%, F--0-59%. Students will also receive feedback on all work they submit, and will be given help with pronunciation.

Experiencia de clase

This class is designed to teach students French through conversation, rather than learning lists of vocabulary words with no idea of how to put them together in a sentence! Each unit is divided into 4 lessons (2 weeks), starting with an introduction and finishing with a mini-exam. Units build on each other, so students get lots of exposure to previously learned grammar and vocabulary. This is not a writing course, so students do not need to worry about how to spell words or accents. All assessments and activities will include all French words and will have them match them to English, translate into English, or provide the question/answer for the sentence provided.

Students will be given links to a quizlet to practice outside of class. I will also provide a kahoot students can use to quiz themselves. There will be various discussion posts provided to help students practice the content each week, and a google doc of vocabulary and talking points for each unit.

Each week there will be 2 videos to watch (approximately 10-15 minutes in length each), as well as an audio clip of the vocabulary words. Students will be given various resources with which to practice, and I will be available upon request to help students as needed.
