Presente con confianza: hablar en público, contar historias y presentar (podcast, YouTube)

Students will spend class time 'on stage', performing class provided content for poetry reading, hosting a YouTube channel or podcast, presenting the news, storytelling, and even commercial acting. Each presentation type requires a different way of speaking and gesturing. All forms of presentation are a type of performance. 
I offer to demonstrate first, so that students feel guided and motivated. My approach is very gentle, with a SEL approach: my goal is to empower and embolden students in their self expression, no matter how shy or quiet, or talkative and outgoing. There is a place for everyone on my stage.

Example assignments: Deliver News and Weather, and compare this delivery style to YouTubing and Podcasting delivery (topic is chosen by students); Recite poetry (we use easy, class-provided content) and compare this delivery style to announcements and voiceovers (these topics will be chosen both by students and teacher); TedTalk or PSA style speeches: students will choose topics meaningful to them (stray animals, pollution, education, screen time, etc.) and present effectively, focusing on organization, clarifying the problem and a solution, and compelling openings and closings. Speech-giving will be reinforced by debate exercises, think-on-your-feet challenges, and vocal warm ups using unique vocal presentation exercises.
