This class helps students master more challenging AMC 8 problems while honing logical thinking and mathematical techniques. ---- What We Cover Week 1: Proportions, patterns, and logical reasoning Week 2: Permutations, modeling, factorials, and percentages Week 3: Algebra, Geometry, factors, and combinations Week 4: Area, perimeter, and side lengths ---- Who Is This Class For? This class is perfect for advanced students who: -Have completed the 7th-grade math curriculum or higher. -Have experience solving basic AMC 8 problems and want to tackle intermediate-level challenges. -Are looking to improve their confidence with more advanced problem-solving techniques. -Recommended for homeschoolers or as an after-school supplement. ---- Class Highlights 📚 Advanced Concepts: Tackle complex AMC 8 problems and build key skills. 🎯 Refined Problem-Solving: Learn strategies for higher-level competition math. 🎉 Collaborative Environment: Engage in group discussions to explore different approaches. ---- Class Experience Students will work on intermediate AMC 8 problems with teacher support. Each session includes: 1. An introduction to the day’s topic. 2. Guided practice on 6-8 problems aligned with AMC 8 content. 3. Group discussions to explore strategies and solutions. Students are encouraged to use the chat feature to ask questions during the lesson. The teacher will guide students through each problem, explaining common mistakes, advanced strategies, and how to think critically about solutions. This class is designed for students who are familiar with AMC 8 topics and want to dive deeper into more complex problems. The pace is medium, giving students the opportunity to reflect and master challenging concepts. We will leave the easier questions for students to work out on their own. Or they can take the Beginner AMC 8 class that will cover the easier questions. Extremely advanced students may want to study on their own, and attend classes from time to time for a refresher. We want students to be prepared for the AMC test. We recommend that students enter the competition when ready. Early sign-ups are in October and can be set up through local schools. ---- Pre-Requisites and Placement Test Students should have completed the 7th-grade math curriculum or equivalent and feel comfortable with foundational problem-solving techniques. Take this short placement test to see if this class is a good fit: Placement Test- https://u5qu6uy4.paperform.co Not sure which AMC class to take? If your student can answer correctly 2 out of 4 of these questions, then the class is a good fit. You can also take the pre-assessment as noted above. 1. Two 600 mL pitchers contain orange juice. One pitcher is 1/3 full and the other pitcher is 2/5 full. Water is added to fill each pitcher completely, then both pitchers are poured into one large container. What fraction of the mixture in the large container is orange juice? 2. Three friends have a total of 6 identical pencils, and each one has at least one pencil. In how many ways can this happen? 3. Spinners A (numbers 1, 2, 3, 4) and B (numbers 1, 2, 3) are spun. On each spinner, the arrow is equally likely to land on each number. What is the probability that the product of the two spinners' numbers is even? 4. At a party there are only single women and married men with their wives. The probability that a randomly selected woman is single is 2/5. What fraction of the people in the room are married men? ---- Class Schedule Requests Let us know your availability for this or future classes by completing our form: Schedule Form- https://ll3ml2mc.paperform.co ---- Recommended Classes Enhance your learning with these related courses: Strengthen Your Foundation with Singapore Math Classes: Grade 5A- https://outschool.com/classes/5a-singapore-math-methods-advanced-math-techniques-Wtcw65kR Grade 5B- https://outschool.com/classes/5b-singapore-math-methods-advanced-math-techniques-MX3cRjQD Grade 6A- https://outschool.com/classes/6a-singapore-math-methods-advanced-math-techniques-j9wzCIRq Grade 6B- https://outschool.com/classes/6b-singapore-math-methods-advanced-math-techniques-xDoug2mV Not ready for this class? The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment. The material covered on the AMC 8 includes topics [and more] from a typical middle school mathematics curriculum. Possible topics include but are not limited to: counting and probability, estimation, proportional reasoning, elementary geometry including the Pythagorean Theorem, spatial visualization, everyday applications, and reading and interpreting graphs and tables. ---- DISCLAIMER We are not in any way affiliated with MAA. This is a class that provides an opportunity for students to ask questions and gain clarity on the steps and strategies for the challenging problems in each test set. We will leave the easier questions for students to work out on their own.

Hi! I'm so glad you are interested in our math classes for elementary through high school students.
We offer 2 different types of math classes that help students engage and learn math at a deeper and advanced level: Singapore Math Classes and Competition Math classes.
Foster your student's love for math through our Singapore Math classes using our Hello Math! Curriculum. Our signature Singapore Math approach helps students build a solid math foundation that will boost students' confidence. Our kind teachers help break down complex math topics in ways that help students to grow and succeed.
Our Competition Math classes encourages critical thinking. Students learn different ways to problem-solve challenging questions and share solutions with their classmates. Our patient teachers guide students if they get stuck. It's a class best taken in conjunction with our Singapore Math classes.
My name is Ingrid, and I am the owner of Tampa Bay Test Prep. I have a BA in mathematics from UC Berkeley, an M.Ed from Holy Names University, and am certified in Mathematics at the middle school and high school levels (California, Florida). I have over 18 years of tutoring and teaching. Our organization is special in that we build our own curriculum so every worksheet you see in our program is tailored to help your student develop long-term success!
My fellow teachers include Math, Computer Science, Engineering, and Physics majors with a love of mathematics, as well as experienced teachers! Together we want to give your student a strong foundation in mathematics and mathematical thinking.
We also offer one on one lessons where students can meet with teachers one on one to get extra help or personalized help, a student-focused plan, tailored assignments, and more. Occasionally we offer SAT/ACT Math Test Prep from our perfect scorer so please message us if you are interested.
Our amazing instructors include:
Teacher Daniel
He teaches our Competition Classes for grades 1-4 and Singapore Math Method Classes.
Teacher Georgia
She specializes in Elementary Education and teaches our Singapore Math Method Classes for grades 1-4, and Competition Math for grades 1 and 2.
Dr. Ping
He has a Ph.D. in Engineering and has spent many years teaching high school math and tutoring privately. He teaches our competition math and one on ones.
Teacher Allison
She double majored in Mathematics and Physics and teaches math competition level classes for grades 5 through 8, as well as one on ones for Singapore Math Methods and Competition Math.
Teacher Raymond
He majored in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue. He obtained a perfect score on his ACT test. He teaches ACT science and ACT and SAT mathematics to students who score above a 30 on the ACT or a 700 on SAT Math and how to boost their scores.
Teacher Derek
He has a BA in math from the University of Chicago and seven years of experience tutoring math. He teaches Competition Math for grades 5-6.
