This lesson explains about comparing one- and two-digit numbers by having students listen to and watch a video of the teacher's book, "Atticus, the Number Eating Alligator". After the book, four practice pages are assigned which the student can post in the classroom for teacher feedback, or give to parents for review.

The student will be able to compare two 1- and 2-digit numbers and determine which one is greater than the other, less than the other, or if they are equal to each other.The student will be able to use the correct signs (>, <, and =) in writing numerical sentences.
