Get ready to explore a classic tale in a whole new way! In this 3-day course, we'll become story detectives, comparing different versions of "Goldilocks" and discovering how a story can change! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This camp focuses on developing critical thinking, comparison skills, and an understanding of how stories can vary. We'll explore: -Different versions: We'll read and listen to various retellings of "Goldilocks." -Story elements: We'll compare how characters, settings, and events change across versions. -Author's choices: We'll consider why storytellers might make different choices. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Each 25-minute session will follow this structure: Storytime Warm-up (3 minutes): We'll start with a quick activity to get our brains ready for comparing stories. This could be a "What do you know about bears?" brainstorm or a picture comparison game. Version Reading (12 minutes): I will read aloud a different version of "Goldilocks" each day. Compare and Contrast (10 minutes): We'll discuss how the versions are similar and different. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My teaching style is patient, interactive, and encouraging. I'll create a supportive environment where all students feel comfortable sharing their observations and ideas. I'll use clear explanations and visuals to highlight similarities and differences. I'll ask open-ended questions to promote critical thinking and discussion. I'll encourage students to express their opinions and support them with evidence from the stories. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I believe in making learning fun and engaging for young children. I'm enthusiastic, adaptable, and I adjust my pace to keep them interested. This class is heavily interactive and discussion-based. There will be minimal "lecture." The focus is on reading and comparing stories. I will use visuals (pictures from the stories) to aid comprehension. Students will actively participate in discussions, sharing their observations and comparing story elements.
