This class is an ongoing format. Students will sketch a new anime girl character every week. Each week is charged as a subscription on Sunday mornings. Students can join or leave the series any week. Prior attendance and knowledge of the subject is not required to attend. Each class will follow the step-by-step process: 1. They will concentrate on rendering the basic shapes of the character's head and angle, then proceed to discover the various relationships between the lines, shapes and proportions of the image. 2. They will learn basic color theory by using a mixture of loose hatching and cross-hatching techniques to blend colors and apply some dark tones in order to create the skin, eyes and hair of the character. 3. They will modify the dark tones of the image by both strengthening and blending them with carefully graduated shading and layering. 4. The final step will be to unify the expressions of the character by deepening the shadows and increasing their contrast. Students will learn how to use pencil sketching techniques to draw popular anime girl characters. They will use proper sketching, shading and blending techniques. This class will focus on the head, face and hair drawing. Students will start with face study and how to detail each facial features like eyes, nose, mouth and ear. Instructors will demonstrate how to identify basic shapes within a character's head, facial measurements and proportions, facial expressions with eyes, eyebrows and mouth, hair, etc. While approaching a new character every week, students will also learn how to tweak its features and expression to give an appearance of a different emotion.
