Experiencia de clase

This course is broken down into easy to follow steps that create long lasting improvement in your child's study skills, organization, time management and thought processes. They will first be introduced to the art of advanced note taking and practice what they learn throughout the rest of the course. They will need a notebook to keep their notes regarding the course that will prove very handy whenever they are in need of a refresher for a big test, presentation or college debate.

Students will be presented with short lectures to learn organizational and time management content while practicing annotation. Then they will be presented with individual as well as group projects to hone their new skills into memory. Discussion between group members and project presentation is also a big part of what makes this course a must as we know how important good presentations skills are in school, business and life.

By the end of the course the students will have annotated 52 slides, practiced 10 projects related to:
* Note taking
* Summary creation
* Study skills

Week one: The lesson begins with an introduction to notetaking and summarization that will be reiterated throughout the class. Next, we go into organization tips from keeping a schedule to fighting procrastination. Finally, students will be prompted to read and use the Organization for Success Worksheet to complete the 1 Day Time Management Activity. Students will do a video of their final answers to share with the class.

Week two: This lesson is all about the different types of priorities and goals in life. A PowerPoint and lecture tells the tale of how we can use priorities and goals to prepare ourselves for college and beyond. Then practice is put into place with a little self reflection when the students choose to fill out and share one of the following projects; Goal Practice, Goal Worksheet, Goals for a Better Week, Goals for a Better Day. The students will the share their work on the Outschool platform and give at least three positive suggestions for their classmates answers.

Week three: Here we will have a presentation that prepares your learner to create a great presentation. Again we will go over more organization practices that promote the best study skills. Study skills for different subjects from simple math practices to college finals will be discussed. After class we get into the real practice of financial reality while setting up a plan for college to see if it is realistic and affordable. Students will then video themselves sharing their final summary and given instruction to give positive solutions to each others dilemmas.

Week four: Now learners will be given a lesson concerning taking responsibility for their own actions and how those decisions can affect their lives. We like to call this adulting. The presentation the leads to what usually comes with great change, stress. They will be taught about how stress can be tamed through resiliency and how to build resiliency through organization and self care in order to be able to get the most out of the opportunities laid before them. After class students practice their newfound skills with the Resiliency Practice I & Resiliency Practice II worksheets that they will turn into the Outschool platform. Learners will then create one question for their classmates and answer at least one question that the others have made up.

Week five: This week is all about what has been proven to cause failure in high school, college and life in general, destructive thinking patterns. Learners are given steps that can help them change unwanted or negative thinking patterns to positive motivation that pushes them towards the success of their goals. Afterwards, the class will reflect on their own positive and negative attributes and complete an activity, Attribute and Boundaries Goals. Finally, they will share their summary paragraph stating who they want to be as a successful adult and why. Classmates will then state one thing they admire about the others ambitions.

Week six: For the lass day of class, students will be taught about the all important aspect of networking. At the end of class, students will be given a test that includes all aspects of the class along with a summary of what they have learned. Students are to share their information with each other to form a complete summary as if they were working with a study group in college.

Hello ") It's so nice to meet you here. My name is Michelle Lynn Back and I have been teaching in middle and high school for over two decades. Though I have always taught the sciences, my studies have always been rooted deep in psychology. My education includes a Masters in education and child psychology from Western Kentucky University, and my Bachelors in Science from University of Evansville, Indiana is in education, psychology and kinesiology, After working for years with school counselors, psychiatrists, doctors, parents and students, I have found a vital need for mental health education in the schools.

Since then I have created mental health curriculum for middle and high school students that encompasses the many areas we all need to understand in order to cope with daily life, become resilient adults and change mindsets to become our happier, more successful selves.

I and my team are developing a nonprofit to deliver this curriculum to students all over the world so no child is excluded from reaping the rewards of a mentally healthy future. Join us in class to learn how to fight negative mindsets and become your best self. ")

When not teaching or working with our nonprofit, HELP, you can find me and my dog Lulu hiking to waterfalls in North Carolina, paddle boarding to visit manatee in Florida or practicing martial arts.
