This course will take students through the process of completing college essays required for admission to US colleges. In this course, the instructor will provide videos, blueprints, timelines and feedback to aid students in the process. Using this course, students can successfully complete essays including the Common App essay.

The format for this course will follow this pattern: Every MondayI will place a video and instructions in the platform with goals for the week. Students should respond by Sunday with drafts of their essays. I will provide feedback within 72 hours.


Week 1
Introductions and Welcome to the program.
I will outline the 6 week plan during this session and upload a timeline.
Introduction to the Common App, Coalition/Scoir Apps using video explanations.
Planning and timeline journal.
Learners will establish a list of schools they plan to apply to and submit to teacher.
Use this week to fill out background information and request recommendations.

Week 2
Using the list of schools students will enter them into the application platforms/school websites.
We will talk about the concept of brainstorming and students will select the essay the wish to work on and begin submitting ideas. 
- The first goal is to create a rough draft we will work on over the next four weeks.
- Explore the prompts and determine which one resonates.
- Use the four questions to develop ideas: "Who Am I?", "Why Am I Here?", "What is Unique About Me?", "What Matters to Me?
- Use "Why" questions to get creative and personal.

At this time we will also begin working on additional essays as needed.
Complete background information.
Instructor will provide feedback.
Request and submit transcripts.
Follow up on recommendations.

Week 3
Using feedback continue to brainstorm and organize thoughts into a first draft.
Begin layout of first draft.
Continue drafting answers for supplemental essays.
Enter information related to activities and get feedback.
Use descriptive words, active voice, and illustrative words to create captivating essay.

Week 4
Work on second draft including construction of transition sentences for consistency.
Develop a story arc or use cause and effect to illustrate points.
Continue working on supplemental essays.
Check on recommendations.
Schedule ACT/SAT if needed.
Receive feedback.

Week 5
Work on third draft of essay and receive feedback.
Begin search for scholarships.
Ask parents to begin assembling information to complete FAFSA.

Week 6
Complete final versions of essay(s).
Receive feedback.
