Tarea
1-2 horas por semana. Students are encouraged to constantly revise their work so I can continue to give feedback in real time since this is a flexible schedule class. Students are expected to watch my weekly video which explains the weekly topic as well as assignment for that week; then, the student will work to complete those tasks as well as communicating with myself and the other learners in the classroom as we engage in real-time discussions, collaborative-projects, and assignments about the university application process.
Evaluación
Learner progress is assessed through written feedback on their essay submissions. This will happen at the end of each week, but during the week students will be getting their work peer-edited as well as having informal commentary on discussions, polls, and projects we complete in the classroom.

Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés - A1
Grado de EE. UU. 9 - 12
Students will begin each week by viewing a weekly video lecture explaining the topics of the week along and assignments for specific tips and tricks on finding the best universities for their needs, university essay writing, scholarship applications and finances, and how to acclimate to the university lifestyle.

While this is a self-paced schedule class, it aims to still be interactive with myself and the other students. There will be weekly polls and quizzes posted in the classroom for students to answer as well as weekly peer / teacher involved assignments (i.e. essay workshops, mock-interviews, research projects, and discussion questions). There will be amply opportunity for students to share work with me to get feedback but also opportunities to engage in collaborative discussions by sharing work with peers. After all, the students in this class share a similar goal, and it's important to build those communication and community involvement skills. One team, one dream!

I will check in regularly to the classroom chat and discussion board to help facilitate the conversation, but it is expected that students participate multiple times per week (preferable once per day) as well.

I am knowledgeable on a variety of schools and scholarships available all over the world for nearly any type of student, so I aim to uncover a dream school they haven't discovered yet. While the university application process can seem daunting--it can also be creative and fun with the right tips and tricks!

Metas de aprendizaje

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente

I have a Master's Degree in English and Education and have been working in education for eight years now. I have experience as both a teacher and college counselor working with students in the USA, China, Vietnam, and Portugal by helping them grow as writers as well as advising them on the school of their dreams. I currently am a university counselor in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and I've helped thousands of students go through the university application process, helping students get into schools all over the world as well as Top State Colleges and IVY League Universities. My background and skill set is valuable for a student who is either homeschooled or does not have a university counselor at their current school or that even wants more individualized help on their essays and applications. I look forward to taking this overwhelming task and making it fun for the student!
