Conversaciones en el café con el Sr. J. (sesión de estudio y social grupal)

When I was teaching in a traditional high school, I always made myself available after school for a couple of hours, just hanging out in my classroom.  Kids could come by whenever the wanted to get extra help with assignments, college applications, or just to talk, and a lot of times that's all it was, a chance for us to talk.

"Coffeehouse Conversations" is my virtual version of that, making myself available for students if they need me.  Sometimes kids just want to talk, be it with an adult or other kids.  Sometimes they just need a little help with an assignment or understanding a book that they are reading.  Or maybe they want to get to know me a little before taking one of my regular classes.  I've scheduled these sections while I'm having my morning or afternoon coffee as an opportunity for kids to stop by whenever they want, for any reason they want. There are no formal lesson plans or assignments. More relaxed than my 1:1 tutoring, and open to up to 8 learners, this is just a form of open office hours and social time, open to anyone that would like to stop by, for any reason.
