This class mini is an opportunity for students to play a fun holiday game and make new friends. In this class, students are offered two ridiculous options, and they have to choose which they prefer and explain why. Not only is the game fun and silly, but students will also be practicing important skills like supporting their choices with reasoning and learning about their audience. These are core concepts integral to good writing, but students will be having so much fun, they won't even realize how much they're learning! To play the game, one student will be the "judge" and the other students will be the "writers." The role of judge will rotate each round. The judge will read two equally ridiculous choices to the writers, who will then have one minute to write what they choose and why. They will then read their explanations to the judge, who will choose the "best" one, based upon humor, creativity, or logic. That player scores a point. Then the role of "judge" rotates to a new player, and the students are given two new options. This particular version of the game is holiday themed, so all of the choices will revolve around winter or winter holidays. This adds a fun, seasonal element to the game play!

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hi! Thank you for taking a look at my Outschool classes! I teach a variety of classes in reading, writing, and math for K-8 students and in writing for high school students.
I've known I wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. I love helping other people succeed, and the moment when something goes from "hard and frustrating" to "so easy" is incredibly motivating for me. I've taught in public schools, worked as a substitute teacher, worked as a private tutor, and taught English online, but my real passion is working with individuals and small groups, because I love finding what works for a particular kid and designing lessons that can really help them succeed.
In addition to helping kids learn and grow, I also love animals. I have two adorable cats, and soon I'm planning to start fostering dogs as well!
